Released on Friday, April 25/25, Peach on a beach's latest single “Forget About 51” is a bold and patriotic electro-pop anthem celebrating Canada’s
unified response to recent geopolitical tensions and trade disputes.
The edgy
track blends driving beats and pulsating synths with passionate vocals and
lyrics addressing themes of national identity and resilience. The song came together rather quickly after I had woke up early one Saturday morning with a fresh perspective.
Several people close to me have said it's my best song to date.
My goal was to create a video that connects with Canadians from coast to coast to
coast. Those who know me well won't be surprised to see that hockey is one of the central themes.
Using VideoProc, i found free clips from Pexels and Vecteezy to create the video that shows iconic imagery from across our great nation. I also leaned on some friends from as far away as the Yukon, as well as my own video library to add some local flavour from my hometown in Clare, Nova Scotia.
Released on January 30, 2025, Peach on a beach's latest single “Inside and Out” is a moody, electro/hip-hop song about
procrastination, something which affects us all.
Some lyrics were inspired while I was reading a thought-provoking business book during the summer called Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson.
I attempted to create a captivating video to remind us how our time on this earth is fleeting.
Once again, I turned to VideoProc using free clips from Pexels to make the video. The plot is essentially three short stories illustrating how procrastination can affect people in different ways, both short and long term.
The track is deliberately jarring in places and probably my only video without a happy ending. Such is life sometimes. If the result of watching the video becomes a wake-up call for someone, then I've accomplished one of my goals with this release.

"Inside and Out" is the first of three songs that will appear on the forthcoming Peach on a beach EP, Dark Waves, releasing on streaming on February 7, 2025. On this EP, Peach experiments with darker themes and sounds, influenced by 80s artists such as The Cure.
The highlight was releasing four videos and three singles, two of which charted on the East Coast Top 30 and even made the Top 100 of 2024 countdown on New Year’s Day.
Released in October, my climate change single “Clock is Ticking" charted at no. 42.
I am thankful to have received marketing funds from Music Nova Scotia to support this release.
Released in May, “Zooming In" is an electro-pop tribute tomy lifelong passion for maps. It landed at no. 27!
Thanks again to everyone who voted for the songs and to Martin Hickey and the CIOE team for promoting all genres of Atlantic Canadian music!
A reminder that all my releases can be found on the major steaming platforms as well as Bandcamp and my artist website.
Like previous years, I spent some of the holidays tweaking demos. Stay tuned for new singles and videos coming in the new year!
Originally released on streaming in December 2023, a new YouTube video for "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" has been created for the 2024 holiday season to celebrate my festive tribute to a small artificial tree from my first Christmas in Clare, back in 1998.
I made the video with VideoProc using free clips from Pexels and shooting a few shots from around the basement. To create a nostalgic vibe, I added a retro TV filter and fuzzy transitions to evoke going back in time.
If you watch the video long enough, you'll see some old Polaroid photos from my (and wife Joelle's) childhood holidays with our families during the 1970s and 80s.
Poignant lyrics recall childhood memories as melancholic vocals blend with uplifting synths riffs, bells and piano to create a nostalgic soundscape.
Some 25 plus years later, I still hold on to the ragged yet symbolic "Charlie Brown” Christmas tree, now embraced by my wife Joelle who sings soothing backing vocals.
For a detailed review of the single and video, I invite you to read these articles by Dulaxi and Saiid Zeidan, bloggers based in the United States.
Hope you enjoy! Stay tuned for a new single coming winter 2025. Like the last few years, I'll be taking some extra time off from my day job over the Christmas break to tweak a few demos and plan for the next release.
New release October 4, 2024: “Clocks Ticking"by Peach on a beach (Larry Peach).
The third single from my upcoming album All Over the Map is a playful song with an important message.
The electropop song about climate change will have
you questioning your place in the universe while simultaneously dancing your
worries away.
Hypnotic synths and a captivating video remind listeners that lessons
learned in geology and geography classes are still relevant today.
Shout-outs to Shawn from Greenlight Studios for a fun video shoot in the classroom and on the beach and to Paul from The Music Box Recording Studio in Clare for his adept mixing and mastering!
New release May 3, 2024: “Zooming In" by Peach on a beach (Larry Peach) is a hip hop, synthpop, over
the top tribute to Peach's lifelong love of maps and a
tongue-in-cheek take on how their use has changed over time.
Essential
listening for geography nerds and technophiles.
So
yours truly plays an old school goofball in a light-hearted video about my passion for geography, maps and nostalgia.
Thanks to Shawn from Greenlight Studios for shooting the footage and to Paul from The Music Box Recording Studio in Clare for the fab
mixing and mastering!
Compared to his whimsical debut, the first single from Peach on a beach’s upcoming sophomore album All Over the Map hints at exploring more contemporary themes.
“Rabbit Hole” is a detour to the dark side, a reminder about the
futility of arguing with online.
The dark wave song is also an homage to The Cure, one of my biggest influences from the 80’s. Hypnotic synths and heavy percussion accompany
ominous lyrics and vocals, reminiscent of alternative artists of the era.
"Rabbit Hole" is also the first single I mixed and mastered in my home studio.
I wanted to create a trippy music video to promote the single -- click link below to watch on YouTube.

Reaching number 1 twice (!!) on the East Coast Top 30 for “Beeping and Bleeping” (Jan. 14) and “Pizza Corner” (May 20). "Pizza Corner landed at no. 26 on the CIOE year-end chart. Thanks again for your votes!
Creating a holiday song “Charlie Brown Christmas Tree” with my wife/number 1 supporter Joelle
Now for 2024. I took an extra week off in December to work on new material. In fact, some songs have been 2 years in the making. I’ve got at least 10 on the go and can’t wait to share ‘em with you!
I decided to make a holiday song thanks to a suggestion from a co-worker in late 2022. Last Christmas break I started creating the song and writing lyrics then continued to work on it throughout the year.
"Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" is a festive
tribute to a small artificial tree from my first Christmas away from home.
Poignant lyrics recall childhood memories as melancholic vocals blend with
uplifting synths riffs, bells and piano to create a nostalgic soundscape.
Some
25 years later, I still hold on to the ragged yet symbolic “Charlie Brown”
Christmas tree, now embraced by my wife Joelle who sings soothing backing
vocals.
"Boogeyman Trail” is the 3rd track on the Flashbacks album, a song celebrating the Halloween season that straddles the line between fun and fear in the forest.
I've always wanted to create a spooky song and horror video, thanks to John Carpenter scores, Stephen King novels, The Blair Witch and Stranger Things.
The lyrics recall an activity we played in the woods during the late 70s/early 80s, which in this song ultimately devolves into fictional mayhem, with a twist at the end. Best experienced on headphones, alone at night.
The music video for "Boogeyman Trail" is my second as a video producer, compiled using free video clips fromPexels.
Special thanks to Cottonbro Studio (Pexels) for the great clips of the kids.
This fall I decided to share my earliest instrumental songs made two years back in fall 2021 with my Casio workstation keyboard when I was transitioning from playing synth riffs from the 80s to creating original material.
The first in my ambient series is called "Illumination", inspired by the beauty of sunrises and features a pan flute synth.
Hope you enjoy these short instrumental interludes that bridge the time between the release of my debut album and the next one, slated for release later in 2024.
“The Dark Side (Doughboys)” is the 5th track from the Flashbacks album, a song celebrating a hell-raising activity from my youth.
An inside joke for the club's alumni, our gang invented the pastime of "doughing" in the Southdale-North Woodside neighbourhoods of Dartmouth during the mid-80s.
At nightfall, clandestine dumpster diving at the Tim Horton's revealed a bounty of day-old doughnuts and timbits to used as biodegradable projectiles.
Shenanigans transformed into suburban art as we glazed the streets, unsuspecting vehicles and unlucky pedestrians with a hodgepodge of pastries to create a veritable nocturnal tableau.
Long before social media and mobile phones, the lack of photographic and videographic evidence of doughing may make you wonder if we made it all up.
So this song is my little digital artifact to ensure the "Doughboys" legacy is immortalized and perhaps even inspire future teen generations to discover their own version of teenage tomfoolery.
But for the safety and sanity of suburbia, let's hope that it doesn't.

“Parcel Pickup” is the 6th track on the Flashbacks album, a tribute to my first job as a grocery store employee.
I started working part-time at Sobeys during the summer of 1988 between my first and second year at SMU in Halifax.
Remember the big red bins and rollers that transported them to a loading area for pickup? Back when customer service was still a thing...
The lyrics recall the trials and tribulations of a typical shift of the never ending busyness of the front-end: hours full of price checks, spills, jar piles of carts and ultimately bin screw ups.
